  • GetResponse is one of the most popular email marketing solutions in the industry that has introduced plenty of new e-commerce and online marketing features in recent years.

But is it the right marketing tool for you? Read our GetResponse review to find out!

    What is GetResponse?

GetResponse email marketing services have been around since 1997, with the launch of the first autoresponder. The company went global in 2009 and now has more than 1 billion monthly subscribers in over 180 countries.

GetResponse is a user-friendly email marketing system that boasts simple solutions for email marketing automation. The company also has sales funnel software and a free website builder to help customers boost their campaigns, and integrates with companies like PayPal, Shopify, and WooCommerce.

One of the biggest advantages of GetResponse is that it’s perfect for less tech-savvy and novice users looking for a solid email marketing service.

    GetResponse Pricing Plans

GetResponse has a couple of pricing plans, including two that are dedicated to mid-to-large companies.

    Individual pricing plans

There are also two pricing plans for businesses:

    Business pricing plans

All GetResponse pricing plans are customisable. However, adding more contacts will cost you.

For example, the basic plan goes up to £289 a month with 100,000 contacts. It is still cheaper than Constant Contact’s Email Plus plan, which costs £215 a month for 35,001-50,000 contacts.

The platform also has a 30-day GetResponse free trial with access to all of its paid features. GetResponse is similar to Omnisend which offers a free plan for an unlimited time with up to 500 emails every month.

    Campaign Setup

Setting up a campaign in GetResponse is quick and easy.

    • Go to the dashboard in the app and click on “Lists.”
    • Click on the “Create a new list” button and give the list a name.
    • Find the list, right-click on it, and go to Settings.
    • Add a title, description, category, and choose a language. You can add a link to your website and a logo as well.
    • Go to the Subscription tab to customise your URL and subscriber-related notifications, like adding an email where you will receive customers’ questions.
    • Add an email list.

You can choose from one of the GetResponse templates and edit them to match your goals and brand identity.  Make sure you add a good subject line and preheader as they are the first things that your contacts read.

If your campaign features more than one email, you can organise them in the editor. For example, you can start with a welcome email and add other elements along the way.

Finally, you can keep track of data like conversion and revenue to calculate your ROI.

    GetResponse Features

GetResponse email marketing features are what make the company one of the top marketing platforms today.

    List management

GetResponse’s list building and segmentation tools allow customers to organise their email lists and improve email deliverability.

Some of the options include uploading existing lists, bounce management, and placing customers into subgroups based on purchasing behavior, age, sex, interest, and more.

    Email analytics

GetResponse’s analytic tools can help you get a better understanding of your contact’s engagement and what part of your marketing campaigns warrants improvement. GetResponse tracks CTRs, open rate, reading time, recipient data, unsubscribers, and other metrics.

One of its best features is the tool that compares campaigns in a side-by-side view.

    Email templates

GetResponse has a catalogue of more than 500 newsletter templates that are sorted into goal-based groups. You can edit the templates and test them to see what you can improve.

While GetResponse has regularly added to its email template list, it’s still smaller than AWeber, which has more than 700 HTML templates in its arsenal.

    A/B split testing

An A/B testing is a handy feature that allows you to split message deliverability and see what performs better.

GetResponse lets you configure every test and presents the statistics in a simple fashion. The stats include open rate, click rate, and delivered messages data.

That said, you can only use one variable at a time during the test, somewhat limiting your options. For more possibilities, take a look at ActiveCampaign

    Website builder

This AI-driven feature can help anyone build a website in under 15 minutes – no coding skills required.

GetResponse will generate a personalised website for your industry based on the answers you provide when getting started. You can then customise the design with a user-friendly drag-n-drop editor, changing fonts and colours, or adding pop-ups with updates and special discounts. The design is responsive, so it will look amazing on any device.

Further advanced customisation options are available, such as utilising SEO-optimization tools and tracking performance.

    Social media integrations

GetResponse integrates with the most popular social media platforms out there, including Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, Google+, and LinkedIn.

Anyone can easily drag and drop the social sharing icons to their emails and track reactions, likes, comments, and shares in the Social Share Analytics tab.

The GetResponse autoresponder feature helps you send automated email sequences at specific times and is a crucial part of the marketing automation process.

For example, you can create a welcome message and have GetResponse send it right after you get a new subscriber. You can customise the autoresponder feature using preset templates and schedule different types of email messages accordingly which is somewhat similar to how you would set it up on CleverReach.

What’s more, you can analyse the performance of these emails to figure out what to improve.

    GetResponse Sales Funnel

GetResponse’s conversion funnel feature is a significant advantage over its competitors. For example, Sendinblue, which is a popular email marketing tool, does not have a conversion funnel tool.

With GetResponse, you can create four types of funnels:

    • Sales funnels to promote your products
    • Webinar funnels for building customer relationships
    • Opt-in funnels for generating leads
    • Lead-magnet funnels for sharing content in exchange for email addresses

The good news is the funnel building process with GetResponse is guided and features suggestions every step of the way.

    Landing Page Creator

The GetResponse landing page builder is included in all subscription plans for free.

Unlike Sendinblue, which only has around 140 templates, GetResponse offers its users more than 200 highly-customisable templates to choose from. Once you open the editor, you can find a column with drag-and-drop elements like images, videos, text, and more.

One of the best things about GetResponse is that you can create as many A/B variants of your landing page as you’d like, as well as thank-you pages and forms.

After creating your landing page design, you can add a URL, improve SEO, and adjust the email list settings.

Customers can also set up and customise analytics and web event tracking. What’s more, the GetResponse email marketing platform integrates with analytics platforms like Facebook Pixel, Kissmetrics, and Google Analytics.

    Marketing Automation

The GetResponse automation tool is one of the platform’s key features. It creates an automated workflow and sends emails that are activated based on data and user behaviour, like giving them a discount on their first purchase.

GetResponse users can either use pre-built automated workflows or build their own sequences. As part of the marketing automation builders, users can also send personalised data-backed messages and create individual contact profiles.

For a bigger selection of automated triggers, you might want to take a look at other email marketing tools.

GetResponse integrates with more than 150 tools and platforms that you can browse in the app based on goals and categories. Some of the big names include e-commerce platforms like WooCommerece and Shopify, as well as WordPress, Zapier, and Salesforce. GetResponse also integrates with CRM platforms like Highrise.

The platform works with a couple of Google integrations as well, which allows users to import contacts, add Google Analytics tags to their email campaign, and connect their landing pages to Google Ads to estimate the efficiency of PPC campaigns.

Some GetResponse integrations may require third-party tools like Zapier to connect, which might come with some extra costs. If you are looking for a wider array of integrations, head over to Constant Contact.

    Customer Support

The GetResponse email marketing support is one of the best in the industry.

The company provides live chat and email support for all plans. You can also find plenty of online tutorials on its website.

GetResponse has phone support but it’s only available to Max2 subscribers.

    Bottom Line

GetResponse is one of the most efficient and affordable email marketing platforms. It has plenty of useful features like email marketing automation, landing pages, and conversion sales funnels.

Though it could use some improvements to the landing page interface, the GetResponse webinar tool performs particularly well and is a pretty good value.

The best part? It has a free plan that comes with a lot of solid features and a 30-day free trial if you want to try out the more advanced tools.

    How much does GetResponse cost?

Aside from its free plan, GetResponse offers 3 flexible plans. The Plus plan is its best deal and costs $37 per month for 1,000 subscribers.
