Gmail is the most-used service worldwide and for a good reason – it’s free, reliable, and has many great features that you can’t find with other email services.

If you’re thinking about jumping ship, here’s how to set up a new email account in Gmail.

How To Set Up a New Email Account in Gmail

Creating a Gmail address is a quick and easy process that only requires a couple of steps.

  1. To create a new Gmail email account, go to gmail.com.
  2. Find and click on the blue “Create Account” button at the top right of the page.
  3. You’ll be taken to a separate page with a sign-up form that you’ll need to fill in. The form asks you first name and last name, and you’ll also need to create a username, and set a password.
  4. Google will then ask you to verify your account by sending you code to your phone number. This step is a part of Google’s two-step verification process, aimed at ensuring security.
  5. In the next few minutes, you’ll receive a text message with a verification code from Google.
  6. Once you enter the code, Google will take you to another page with a more detailed sign-up form that requires adding some personal information, including your phone number, a recovery email address, your birthdate, and your gender.
  7. You can then choose between Express or Manual personalisation. The latter takes longer to set up, but it allows you to set limits on the type of data that Google can access.
  8. Finally, Google will ask you to read and agree to its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  9. When you hit “Agree,” you’ll be taken to your new inbox.

Bottom Line

Gmail is a popular email service with more than 1.8 billion users. The platform offers many benefits, including free tools and 10+ GB of email storage space, and it only takes a couple of minutes to set up an email account with Gmail.
