If you’ve decided to temporarily step back from TikTok and now you want to get back to it, or you simply don’t remember your password, there’s a way to regain access to your account.

If you’re wondering how to get your old TikTok account back after you’ve deleted it, forgotten your password, or have been unfairly banned, read on.

How To Reactivate Your TikTok Account?

It’s possible to recover your TikTok account, but only within 30 days of deleting it

Once that period has passed, your account will be permanently closed, and TikTok will not be able to recover your account.

To reactivate your account:

  1. Launch the TikTok app on your phone.
  2. Tap Profile in the bottom right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap Sign Up.
  1. Tap Log In at the bottom of the screen.
  1. Select the Use phone or email option and enter your email and password.
  1. You’ll be taken to a screen that says your account is currently deactivated. Tap Reactivate to confirm that you want to use your account again.

How To Recover Your TikTok Account?

If you’ve forgotten your password and you have your number added to your TikTok account, you can use it to send a code and log in without it.

If you don’t have a phone number linked to your TikTok account:

  1. Open the TikTok app.
  2. Tap Sign up.
  3. At the bottom of the page, tap Log In.
  4. Select Use phone / email / username.
  5. Choose Email / Username.
  6. Tap Forgot password?
  1. You can then choose whether you want to reset your password via your phone number or email. TikTok will send you a 6-digit code to your email/ phone and you’ll have one minute to enter it before it expires.
  1. After you enter the code, you’ll be sent to a new page where you’ll need to enter a new password. When you’re done, tap Log In.

Note that if you’ve joined TikTok via another social media platform, you will need to reset your password there.

How To Recover a TikTok Account With Only a Username

Tiktok account recovery without a phone number, email, or password is sometimes possible.

To do that, you will have to contact TikTok’s customer support team and wait for them to give you instructions on how to proceed.

Here’s how you can reach out to TikTok and ask for help:

  1. Visit www.tiktok.com/legal/report/feedback or click here.
  1. Add an email address and your username. The email address doesn’t have to be the one you used to create your TikTok account, but make sure you give them an address that you can log into.
  1. In the ‘What would you like to tell us?’ field, explain that you have lost access to your email address and phone number and include the username that you have lost.
  1. You can also submit any attachments that you think might help your case.

Note: It takes TikTok’s customer support team anywhere between 3 and 5 business days to respond to your request.

How To Recover a Banned TikTok Account?

TikTok typically bans accounts that violate its Community Guidelines– not following the platform’s rule is one of the main reasons why TikTok accounts are not getting any views.

Most users first receive a warning and might get a temporary ban if they repeatedly violate its rules.

Violations of its zero-tolerance policies trigger an instant and permanent ban– TikTok has even banned trends that were deemed dangerous.

When TikTok bans your account, you’ll see a banner notification when you open the app, informing you of the app’s action against your account.

If you believe your account was banned incorrectly, you can ask Tik Tok to recover your account by submitting an appeal.

To appeal a ban:

1. Open the notification.

2. Tap Appeal.

3. Follow the instructions.

Violating TikTok’s zero-tolerance policies makes TikTok account recovery more challenging.

If you’ve lost access to your account entirely, you can try to reach out to TikTok’s customer support team via the feedback form on its website.

Bottom Line

If you’re wondering how to get your old TikTok account back after you’ve deleted it, the answer is simple: You can only recover an account that you haven’t deleted more than 30 days ago. TikTok users that have forgotten their password can easily reset it via their phone or email. Recovering a TikTok account without an email/number is possible too, but you’ll need to contact TikTok’s customer support team.
