Due to the pandemic, the sector lost £25.66 billion, and now, pub-goers will need to buy 124 pints or 122 glasses of wine each to make up for the money the industry lost. On the other hand, non-drinkers will need to eat 976 packets of crisps to help the 40.000 pubs affected by the pandemic.
Pubs without outdoor areas will be able to open for the first time in five months, as lockdown rules will be eased even further on Monday.
Pub owners hope that the repressed demand from months of lockdown will help their businesses recover but say it will take some time to entirely make up for the months of closure. In addition, a poster was set up encouraging people to spend an extra £382 this year in order to help their local pubs.
To allow more people to meet up in beer gardens, the government has loosened its rules, but pubs will initially have to operate under the rule of six inside from May 17.
Finally, 18% of Brits find their true love in a pub, so it’s no wonder why everyone is waiting for June 21 when all the restrictions on socialising are set to end.
