Simba Sleep: Brand Snapshot
Simba Sleep is a UK based company that sells mattresses and other sleep accessories. It started out in the mattress business in 2002 after supplying other bedding companies with high-quality thread for almost 23 years.
The company has so far sold over one million mattresses in 35 countries worldwide, and it boasts one of the lowest return rates in the business.
Simba Sleep uses the best UK and European materials, as well as their own design, to create some of the comfiest beds available. Their best-selling models, the Simba Hybrid and Hybrid Pro have improved the sleep of millions of consumers and will continue to do so in the future. In addition to these, the company also makes a mattress for kids as well as their latest Simba Cool Foam mattress, which is currently only available at Argos.
Simba Hybrid Pro: Material & Construction
Measuring 28cm in depth, the Simba Pro Mattress consists of seven layers of foam, wool and Aerocoil spring.
Let’s look through each section individually:
- The top layer of the Simba bed is a very soft and breathable 750g cover. Unique to this model, the cover is hypoallergenic, providing the best possible protection for your mattress. The cover is also thicker than the one on the Simba Hybrid for added softness and plush.
- Under the cover, you will find a comfort layer of natural wool which helps with temperature regulation and provides additional air circulation. Like the cover, this section is also unique to the Hybrid Pro.
- Next up is a layer of Simba’s own open-cell foam, which adapts to the body but doesn’t let it sink in. The structure also promotes airflow for cool slumber and dry nights.
- The fourth section contains a dual-layer of titanium Aerocoil springs. The Hybrid Pro features up to 5,000 of these pocketed springs to provide what the company calls “gravity-defying support”.
- Under the coils, the Simba bed has another layer of its patented Simba-pure foam, this time with reinforced edges for more support around the ends of the mattress.
- Finally, the base is made up of sturdy Simba-Pure foam with added zoned support to relieve back pain. The base also gives the mattress its stability and further increases airflow.
The design of the Hybrid Pro is unique in many ways.
First off, it contains seven layers, unlike most hybrids that have four to five only.
It also features a one-of-a-kind dual layer of individually-wrapped springs offering more responsiveness than your typical hybrid model. The sheer number of coils (5,000 vs the Simba Hybrid with 2,500 and the Eve Premium Hybrid with 1,500) further enhances breathability and contributes to a cooler sleep.
Last but not least, the extra layer of natural British wool (another component that is only available in the Hybrid Pro) boosts comfort and promotes airflow so that users can truly have the sleep of a lifetime.
How Firm is the Simba Hybrid Pro?
The Simba Hybrid Pro is a medium-firmness mattress but leaning more towards the softer side of the spectrum. Most Simba mattress reviews, ours included, would rank this bed as 5.5–6 on the firmness scale.
Compared to the Simba Hybrid, this model is more plush and luxurious, mainly thanks to the softness of the cover and the wool in the comfort layer.
Nevertheless, the denser foam and pocket springs in the core give the Simba Hybrid Pro the support and responsiveness to suit most sleepers.
In short, if you want the body-hugging feel of memory foam but don’t want a mattress that dips entirely under you, the Simba Hybrid Pro is the way to go. However, if you’re looking for a firmer option, we suggest trying Simba’s original hybrid or Tempur’s Sensation mattress, both of which are on the firmer end of the scale.
Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress: Comfort and Support
The Simba Hybrid Pro mattress is engineered to strike the perfect balance between comfort and support.
How is this achieved?
The soft but responsive, open-cell foam section, in combination with the wool layer, let the sleeper lie comfortably into the bed without sinking too much and waking up with aches and pains. The 5,000 pocket springs in the support layer further add bounce to the mattress keeping the user supported in any position.
In short, the Simba Pro is an incredibly versatile mattress, suiting all kinds of sleepers.
Thanks to the marriage of pocket springs and soft wool in the top layers, this mattress is a great choice for people who sleep on their side. The wool cradles the hips and shoulders, relieving pressure where side sleepers need it the most, while the springs align and support the spine.
The Simba Pro mattress has an ergonomic design utilising the conical pocket springs and the zoned support in the base for the ideal combination of spinal alignment and pressure relief. Basically, the bed is firm enough to support your back but sufficiently squishy in the top to fill up the space in your lumbar area. On top of that, the construction allows for even distribution of weight, further increasing the comfort of back sleepers.
Front & Heavy Sleepers
Stomach sleepers and heavier individuals will also be relatively comfortable on this mattress as there is enough plush comfort to cushion the body without letting it sink in. At the same time, there is sufficient support in the lumbar area—a sensitive spot for front sleepers.
In addition, the Simba Hybrid Pro is firm enough to support heavier sleepers and does not sag under the additional weight.
However, the top layers might still feel too soft for some front sleepers and heavier body types. The former would do well to try out some firmer models, like the Jessica by Sleepeezee, while the latter could probably get more support from medium-firm beds such as the Simba Hybrid and Tempur’s Sensations.
The Simba Hybrid Pro: Temperature Regulation
The Simba Pro features a luxurious natural wool layer with amazing temperature regulating properties, so even the hottest of sleepers should not experience any issues.
Furthermore, the open-cell foam layer is infused with graphite to provide extra temperature regulation. Last but not least, the cover is soft and breathable, adding even more cooling properties to this premium hybrid model.
These advanced cooling technologies work together to make the Simba Hybrid Pro the best mattress for hot sleepers.
The Simba Pro: Motion Transfer
Even though this bed contains springs, it doesn’t allow for much motion transfer. You will, of course, be able to tell when someone is getting out of bed, but the movements of your partner, pet or child in the bed are kept down to a minimum. This is because the soft foam and wool in the top layers absorb motion, while the springs in the core are placed in individual pockets, limiting movement to just one area of the bed.
Great motion isolating properties make the Simba Hybrid Pro an excellent option for couples. Still, if you’re an incredibly light sleeper, you might want a bed that completely eliminates motion transfer, such as the Emma Original.
Simba Hybrid Pro: Edge Support
This bed is one of the best out there when it comes to edge support and sturdiness. The support base ensures the bed is steady, while the reinforced edges around Simba’s HD foam in the bottom stop the mattress from sagging.
Not only does this design prolong the lifespan of the Simba Hybrid Pro, but it also allows users to stretch out comfortably on the surface without feeling like they might roll or fall off.
In fact, this level of edge support is rarely seen in hybrids, with the exception of Simba’s other model. Both the Hybrid and Hybrid Pro excel in this area, making them one of the best choices for couples and overweight sleepers.
Simba Pro Mattress: Durability and Maintenance
Is it easy to care for the Hybrid Pro?
Although not terribly complicated, there are some points to keep in mind when you buy this mattress.
First off, the cover of the bed is not removable. If you spill something on it or have an accident, the only way to clean the bed is by using a damp cloth and some light, non-chemical cleaning products. To avoid tedious cleaning routines, you could invest in a mattress protector or try one of the beds with a machine-washable cover, such as the Emma Hybrid.
The Simba Hybrid is not a flippable bed, but the company does recommend rotating it once in a while, so it maintains its shape. Weighing at almost 38kg, rotating the Simba Hybrid mattress in king size might prove to be a demanding task and one that certainly requires a helping hand.
On the plus side, Simba beds are incredibly easy to set up. There is minimal off-gassing, and even that goes away in a few hours. Moreover, the Simba Hybrid and Hybrid Pro are compatible with all bed bases, so they will fit any bed frame you have, whether it’s adjustable, slatted or sprung.
The Simba Hybrid Pro is a very durable bed. Hybrids have an average lifespan of five to seven years, but this one is made of long-lasting and high-quality materials, so it should serve you well for seven to ten years.
Simba Sleep Accessories
Simba Sleep offers more than just top-notch mattresses. Some of their sleep accessories include:
Simba Hybrid Pillow & Duvet
Comfy, soft and hypoallergenic, the Simba pillow and duvet are the perfect addition to a good night’s sleep. Both are made of advanced cooling material, providing sleepers with comfort even on the hottest nights.
Simba Hybrid Mattress Topper
Is your mattress too soft or too firm? There is no need to spend money on a new one. With the Simba mattress topper, you can transform your old bed and give it a completely new feel.
Simba Performance Mattress Protector
Made out of super-soft 200 thread-count cotton and an additional 200gm fill, the ultra-gentle and airy mattress protector adds another layer of plushness to the bed, as well as protection against germs, bed bugs and dust mites.
Simba Orbit Weighted Blanket
For a complete relaxing feel, try Simba’s nano-bead infused weight blanket. You can literally feel the stress and tension being pushed away by the sheer comfort of the Orbit.
For those who want the complete Simba experience, the company offers bedding made out of top-rated Egyptian cotton. Designed with your comfort in mind, these sheets and linen will contribute to an even more restful slumber.
Simba Hybrid Pro: Warranty and Trial Period
The Hybrid Pro comes with a more-than-generous 200-night trial period. This is in line with Emma, which recently increased their trial period from 100 to 200 nights, but it is much longer than some of the competition. For instance, Eve offers a 100-night return policy, while Sealy beds come with a 60-night mattress trial period.
If you decide that the Simba Pro isn’t for you during the first 200 nights, you can return it for free. Don’t worry, you won’t have to try and fit it back in the box. The company will pick up the mattress as is, minus the sheets and duvets.
What about the warranty?
An extended guarantee period is a sure sign of the brand’s trust in their product. For that reason, Simba Sleep offers a ten-year coverage on their mattresses. This warranty covers any and all manufacturing faults, but bear in mind that it is not responsible for any damage you cause to the mattress or damage that arises from everyday use.
Although most companies provide 10-year guarantees with their beds, there are some with shorter cover periods, such as Sealy, which has a 5-year quality guarantee. However, there are other manufacturers with extended guarantees, like the Nectar that comes with a lifelong warranty, the longest on the market.
Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress Delivery
Simba Sleeps ships all mattresses for free directly to your door. Now, there is even an option of zero-contact delivery to keep you and the staff safe during the pandemic. Simba beds are shipped through UPS or DPD, and they arrive packed in a convenient box within one to five days after you place the order. You can also track your order 24-48 hours before the delivery to ensure that you’re at home when the mattress comes.
Like other beds-in-a-box, the Simba Hybrid Pro needs a little time to expand, although you should be able to use it within three to six hours after unboxing. Sometimes it can take up to 72 hours for the bed to reach its full height and depth, but you can start to use it even if it hasn’t fully expanded.
Simba Mattress Price and Sizes
Like the Simba Hybrid, the premium model is also available in all UK sizes, plus EU sizes, which is a nice touch, especially considering that many Brits buy European-size bed frames and need a mattress that will fit them.
The Hybrid Pro is also taller than other mattresses—both Emma mattresses and the Eve Original Hybrid are 25cm deep. In contrast, the Hybrid Pro measures at 28cm giving you more depth and support.
So, how much is the Hybrid Pro?

Payments can be made via PayPal, Splitit, Amazon Pay or credit and debit cards.
Simba Sleep also offers the 0% Finance option through DivideBuy. You can pay for your mattress over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months without any interest. You can easily apply for 0% Finance online, just make sure that your purchase is over £400. The 200-night sleep trial and warranty period are still valid even if you buy the bed through financing.
A quick comparison with the competition reveals that the Simba Pro mattress is one of the costlier beds on the market. The Eve Original Hybrid is £519 for a single mattress, while the Sleepeezee Hybrid 2000 Pocket Gel Mattress starts off at just £404.95. Even Simba’s Original Hybrid at £589 is less expensive.
However, none of these cheaper options have the dual pocket spring section or the cooling wool layer unique to the Simba Pro, so the comparison is not that fair. Considering the quality, comfort and brand reputation you get, the Hybrid Pro is more than worth it.
That said, there are ways to save. Simba Sleep has sales throughout the year and plenty of promotions and deals you can take advantage of. Furthermore, you can use the Simba discount code to get 30 to 35% off the regular price.

Simba Hybrid Pro Mattress Alternatives
Let’s see how the competition fares against Simba’s Hybrid Pro.
Emma vs Simba Hybrid Pro
Both these UK mattresses are very comfortable and supportive. The biggest difference is that the Emma mattress is a foam bed, whereas the Simba Pro combines foam with pocket springs for extra support. Another is the construction—while Emma has three, the Hybrid Pro boasts seven different layers, including a unique dual pocket spring section.
Finally, the Hybrid Pro sleeps much cooler and is more suited to hot sleepers, while the Emma Original provides the perfect cushioning that side sleepers need from a quality mattress.
Eve Original Hybrid vs Simba Hybrid Pro
The Simba or the Eve mattress: which is better?
The Eve Hybrid and Simba’s premium hybrid model blend the best of both worlds—foam and springs. Although they are both medium-firm, the Simba Pro leans slightly on the softer side and might be better for back and side sleepers looking for extra plush.
Both perform very well in temperature regulation; however, the Simba does have an edge when it comes to support around the perimeter of the bed—the Eve has limited edge support at best. In other words, the Simba Hybrid Pro is a much better fit for couples than the Eve Original Hybrid.
The Simba Hybrid Pro vs Dormeo Wellsleep Hybrid
Again, these are both medium-firm hybrids that offer amazing temperature regulation, comfort and support. That said, the Simba Pro is a more premium model—containing seven layers, it has over 5,000 pocketed springs, whereas the Dormeo only has 700+ and three sections in total.
But when it comes to price, nothing beats the Dormeo models. Starting at £449.99 for a single mattress(compared to Simba’s £929), the former is a much better choice for the budget-conscious shopper.
Is the Simba Hybrid Pro worth it?
The Simba Hybrid Pro is a well-designed mattress guaranteed to give you the sleep of your life.
It has many unique attributes that contribute to its quality and comfort, not the least of which is the number of conical pocketed springs, the natural cooling wool in the top layer and the ultra-soft, breathable cover. All of these qualities make the Simba Pro the perfect choice for hot sleepers, as well as an excellent option for couples, side and back sleepers.
The real downside is the price. The Simba Pro doesn’t come cheap, although, for the features it has, it is worth every penny!
Yes. As a matter of fact, it’s good for all kinds of sleepers, but side sleepers would especially enjoy it. The bed is not too firm, which means it cradles the hips and shoulders without putting pressure on these areas.
The Simba Pro is a great mattress for back pain for a number of reasons. It has 5,000 pocketed springs that allow the sleeper to evenly distribute weight across the surface, so there is no sense of being trapped in the mattress and waking up stiff and aching.
What’s more, the bottom of the bed is made of zoned Simba-pure foam, which provides relief in the lumbar area while aligning the spine and supporting the back at the same time.
The Simba mattresses for the UK are made in domestic factories from materials sourced and manufactured in Europe. The 25mm conical pocket springs are made in Leeds.
The Simba Pro is a medium-firm bed, ranking about a 5.5 to 6 on the one to ten firmness scale. This means that it is softer than what the industry judges as medium-firm. In fact, more than one Simba Hybrid Pro mattress review says this bed is both plush and luxurious, ideal for almost all sleepers, positions, and styles.
