Dormeo is one of the oldest companies in the vacuumed mattresses market. The company made its first single foam mattress back in 2002. Since then, Dormeo has added 300 products to its portfolio and became synonymous with a good night’s sleep.
Dormeo memory foam products are manufactured, vacuumed, and rolled in the company’s facility in Italy. It has sold millions of mattresses in more than 40 countries all over the world.
Today, Dormeo UK Ltd owns a showroom in High Wycombe, UK, and is one of the best-known sleep accessory brands worldwide.
Dormeo S Plus is the first-ever personalised mattress with an S-shaped core and over 30 comfort combinations. The mattress features separate halves that work independently. This means you and your partner can lay next to each other, while one is sleeping on a firm bed and the other on a soft one. Cool, right?
Now, let’s get into the specifics of the 20cm-high Dormeo S Plus memory foam mattress.
The top layer is 2cm memory foam designed for the body to sink into the top of the structure and relieve pressure.
Ecocell: On top of the other two layers is the Ecocell layer. The firm side of this part is coloured pink and provides sturdy support for back sleepers. The soft layer is grey. This soft side is best suited for people sleeping on the side.
S-shaped layer: In the middle is Dormeo’s next-generation material that uses the company’s own Octaspring technology. This is the S shape layer composed of springs and foam that is eight times more breathable than traditional memory foam. This material aims to provide the comfort of plush foam and the support of traditional springs.
Additionally, the Octaspring layer has a three-dimensional cellular structure. Each one of the zones has different strength that ensures your body receives all the right tension in all the right places while you sleep. If you want to feel the difference, just rotate your half of the mattress, and you’ll get targeted support either higher up or lower down the body.
Core: The bottom-most layer is the core, made of 18cm of Dormeo’s Ecocell foam, making this an exceptional all-foam mattress.
Cover: The model also features a unique anti-bacterial, anti-mold, and anti-dust mite sanitised cover.
The firmness of your mattress is essential. If the bed is too soft, you won’t get enough support; if it’s too firm, you won’t be comfortable.
The S Plus mattress features two sides, so you can choose between firmness levels by simply flipping it. This unique bed comes in 30 firmness variations, giving it an edge over other high-end models, such as the Simba Hybrid Pro.
There is also a direct correlation between the weight of the body and firmness. The heavier the sleeper is, the softer the mattress feels.
Inspired by the human body, the Dormeo S Plus mattress has the natural S shape of the spine.
We tested the model and found it remarkable how correctly aligned the spine is in all sleeping positions. A naturally supported spine is a requirement for a good night’s sleep.
It’s worth noting that there is a slight difference between the hip and shoulder lines on the firm side of the mattress, showing that the S-shaped foam has different zones at each end.
As for the soft side, there wasn’t an actual difference in the zones. That would have been a disappointment if it weren’t for the fact that the spine was still well supported.
As far as sleeping styles go, the firmer side is preferred by people who sleep on their backs, and the softer one is best suited for side sleepers.
The Dormeo S Plus mattress features a breathable Octaspring technology, which provides the pressure relief of memory foam and the support and cooling of springs.
It’s eight times more breathable than traditional memory foam, leading to a greater airflow through the mattress and cooler sleep.
Still, it’s hard to beat hybrid mattresses in this area, so if breathability is among your priorities, we suggest going for a model like the Dormeo Wellsleep Hybrid.
Dormeo S Plus mattress is all foam, so motion transfer is minimal whichever way you position the bed. As a two-sided mattress, this is a risk-free choice for couples. If you and your partner are light sleepers or tend to toss and turn during the night, this model will ensure there’s no disturbance.
How long does a Dormeo mattress last?
A Dormeo mattress is an investment in your sleep for a significant period. If cared for correctly, this quality mattress should last ten to fifteen years.
The company recommends you rotate it head to foot once in a while in the first few months to ensure even wear. The good news is that this model comes with handles, so flipping it won’t be a challenge.
The Dormeo S Plus mattress also has a removable cover which is machine washable at 30ºC. What’s more, Dormeo S Plus mattress can be used on any platform.
If you want the ultimate sleep environment, you should pair your mattress with Dormeo’s accessories. The company offers pillows, mattress toppers, mattress protectors, and duvets.
The Dormeo mattress protector: This product helps you keep your mattress in top condition. The company has Single, Double, King, and Super King sizes in its range.
The Dormeo memory foam pillow: The company offers high-end pillows for all types of sleepers at various prices.
The Dormeo topper: The brand also has several kinds of toppers at different price points. They can be used with Single, Double, King, and Super King Dormeo beds.
Settling a mattress without giving it a try first can be risky. That’s why online mattress companies offer trial periods.
Dormeo S Plus mattress comes with a 60-day trial. This time frame allows you to test the bed and see if it suits your sleeping needs. If you’re not happy with the S Plus, contact Dormeo, and its representatives will suggest an alternative, or collect the mattress and give you a full refund.
To give you perspective, this trial is shorter than what most other brands offer—for instance, Emma mattresses come with a 200-night trial. But our view is that 60 days is more than sufficient to determine if a certain mattress works for you.
A warranty is another aspect to consider when buying a mattress because it protects you from defective products. All Dormeo mattresses include a 15-year warranty that starts as soon as you receive your order. The company guarantees replacement or repair of your bed if damaged due to poor workmanship or materials, subject to the limitations described in the warranty.
The warranty is not valid when problems are caused by misuse, careless treatment, or use not according to instructions.
Dormeo S Plus mattress is rolled, vacuum-packed, and delivered in a box to ease the transport of the bed. The delivery is free within the UK, excluding Gibraltar, and can be tracked online.
It usually takes 5 to 28 days for your order to arrive, mainly depending on the mattress you chose. Once shipped, the delivery people will set up the bed and pick up your old one free of charge.
Dormeo S Plus is available in four sizes: Single, Double, King, and Super King. Here’s this Dormeo mattress price table.

I'm an interior architect by education with a tendency for content writing and research. Whenever I’m waiting for the engine to finish rendering my model, I love reading and researching on a wide variety of topics. I especially love writing content that is backed up by thorough research and relevant data. Given my engineering background, I'm more for the empirical data, not the "I couldn’t help but wonder..." vibe. When I'm not busy writing or drawing, you can find me hiking with my beagle or binge-watching in my bed. There is no in-between.
